The wayfarer is the workhorse of the custom sunglasses world: a bold, slightly trapezoidal acetate frame that flatters most face shapes and reads as both retro and contemporary. LumiShades runs wayfarers in cellulose-acetate, bio-acetate and TR90 nylon, with five- or seven-barrel metal hinges and your choice of gradient, polarized or solid lenses. Acetate gives you the deepest color customization in the catalogue — solids, tortoise, crystal, two-tone laminates and Pantone-matched injection colors. This is the frame most brands launch with because it offers the best balance of margin, durability and broad appeal.

Can you match a custom acetate color to my Pantone?
Yes. For solid colors we color-match injection or block acetate to your Pantone reference. Custom acetate sheets require a 600-pair minimum; below that we work from our 200+ stock acetate library.
What is the difference between acetate and bio-acetate wayfarers?
Bio-acetate uses plant-based plasticizers and is biodegradable under industrial composting; it carries a small surcharge but supports sustainability claims and REACH compliance.
Do you offer prescription-ready (Rx) wayfarer frames?
Yes. We can supply demo-lens or Rx-ready frames with appropriate base curve and frame depth so your optical lab can glaze them.
How durable are the hinges?
Seven-barrel hinges are tested to 20,000 open-close cycles in our QC lab. Spring hinges are optional for a more forgiving fit.
Can I get a two-tone or laminated acetate front?
Yes. Two-tone fronts, crystal-over-color laminates and gradient acetate are all available; these require physical sampling to approve color and require 12-15 day sample lead.
What is the minimum order for a custom wayfarer color?
MOQ is 50 pairs using stock acetate colors. Fully custom Pantone-matched acetate sheets require 600 pairs per color.
