How to Put Your Logo on Custom Sunglasses

Putting your logo on a pair of sunglasses is what turns a generic product into your brand. But there are several ways to do it, each with different cost, durability, look and minimum quantities. This guide walks through every branding method so you choose the right one for your frame, budget and positioning.
The branding methods at a glance
| Method | Best on | Durability | Cost | MOQ impact |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Laser engraving | Acetate, metal, TR90 | Permanent | Low | Very low (no plate) |
| Pad printing | Most materials | Good (can wear) | Low | Needs a plate |
| Metal logo plate | Acetate temples | Excellent | Higher | Tooling for plate |
| Custom temple/tips | All | N/A (built-in) | Mid | Tooling/setup |
| Color injection | TR90/plastic | Permanent | Mid | Batch minimum |
| Heat stamp/foil | Acetate | Moderate | Low | Low |
Laser engraving — the low-MOQ workhorse
Laser engraving burns your logo into the frame surface — usually the temple. It's permanent, precise, works on acetate, metal and TR90, and crucially has almost no setup cost, making it ideal for low MOQ and startups. The look is subtle (same-color etched mark), elegant and durable. It's our most-recommended entry branding. Compare it head-to-head in laser vs pad printing.
Pad printing — color logos
Pad printing transfers ink onto the frame, allowing colored and multi-color logos that engraving can't. It needs a printing plate (a modest setup cost) and the print can wear over years if not protected, but it's affordable and versatile. Choose pad printing when your logo needs to be a specific color or sit against the frame as a printed mark.
Metal logo plate — the premium emblem
A metal logo plate is a small metal emblem set into or riveted onto the temple — the branding cue luxury and premium eyewear use. It signals quality instantly and is extremely durable. It carries higher cost and needs tooling for the plate, so it suits premium lines and committed volumes. Full detail in metal logo plates.
Customers can't always name why a frame feels premium — but a crisp metal logo plate on the temple is usually part of the answer.
Custom temples and color injection
Branding doesn't have to be a logo. Custom temple shapes, two-tone temples, branded temple tips, and frame color injected to your Pantone are all powerful brand signals — see custom temple options and Pantone matching. A distinctive color or temple becomes recognizable even without a visible logo.
Don't forget the packaging
Some of the strongest branding sits off the frame: a custom case, microfiber pouch, cleaning cloth and box. These carry your logo prominently and shape the unboxing experience. See packaging ideas and pouch and case options.
Logo placement guide
- Outer temple: most common, visible when worn — engraving, print or plate.
- Inner temple: subtle, often size/material info plus brand.
- Lens (corner): small etched/printed mark, premium cue.
- Bridge: occasional, for metal frames.
Choosing the right method
- Startup / low MOQ → laser engraving (no setup).
- Colored logo → pad printing.
- Premium positioning → metal logo plate.
- Brand recognition without a logo → custom color/temples.
- Full brand experience → add custom packaging.
